This regiment with several others forming an independent command of about 1000 men under Col. Looney, charged over this ground at about 4 p.m., April 7, 1862. This charge covered the retreat of the Confederate Army.

Marker is at the intersection of Corinth Road and Hamburg-Purdy Road, on the left when traveling south on Corinth Road.
