This regiment rendered important service as rear guard in

the movements and actions of the Eleventh and Twelfth Corps

in opening and maintaining communications with

the Army of the Cumberland at Chattanooga

from Nashville via Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad and

the Tennessee River.

Organized August 1861. Discharged July 1865.

Marker is at the intersection of East 4th Street and North Hawthorne Street, on the right when traveling east on East 4th Street.
