This regiment was engaged here about 10 a.m. April 7, 1862. It advanced to the wheat field where a battery was captured but soon after abandoned. The regiment fell back to this place and at 1 p.m. Was engaged in the Peach Orchard.
Marker can be reached from Hamburg-Savannah Road ½ mile north of Hamburg-Purdy Road, on the left when traveling north.
