[plaque in front of memorial]

The pyramidal design of the 79th

Fighter Group Memorial symbolizes

the origin of its combat career in

Egypt, land of the Pyramids.

The Group utilized comparative

traits of strength, solidity and

durability to accumulate 37,006

combat sorties - while pursuing the

enemy through eight countries and

enduring five invasions. All was

accomplished by courageous men

who believed in their country,

mission and themselves.
