Aiken County Courthouse Bell

Forged in 1882 at Troy, N.Y., the bell

hung in the courthouse 1882-1981.

In 1931, lightning cracked the bell

and caused a fire that destroyed

the cupola.

Marker is on Newberry St SW near New Lane SW.
