Arcadia Mill- Simpson House

The Simpson House was a three-story, Louisiana-style mansion built by Ezekiel Simpson ca. 1835. Located in the southern uplands, the Simpson House consisted of a brick paved basement, veranda and main floor, and a second story. The front of the house originally faced north, overlooking the mill complex, but was retrofitted in the 20th century to face south towards Milton Road, which later became Highway 90.

Historical and archaeological research indicates that the house burned in 1935. Archaeologists from the UWF Division of Anthropology and Archaeology are conducting an ongoing investigation into the lot. Artifacts from the Simpson House can be seen in the Arcadia Mill Visitor’s Center and Museum.
