Translated, the marker reads:
Built in 1606 of bamboo, molave and nipa shingles, the church of Nuestra Señora de Guia has been destroyed several times by earthquakes. Rebuilt in 1810 and destroyed in 1945, during the Battle for Manila. The statue of Nuestra Señora de Guia (Our Lady of Guidance), has been in this Manila Cathedral since 1947, where many believe the image of the Virgin was found on May 19, 1571. A crown was placed on the Virgin on May 16, 1971 by Rufino Cardinal Santos. The gold crown was given by Pope Paul VI.
