Ann Peacock House

Built c. 1760

The front portion of this fine example of

the Charleston single house was built on

part of the original lot #37 of the plat

of Charleston known as the "Grand Modell."

The home was erected by Wm. Hall for

Ann Peacock, a wealthy widow

from St. George's Parish, Dorchester.

After her death in 1769 the property changed

owners several times and in 1877 the

premises were left to St. Michael's Church.

According to vestry minutes the house was

in such disrepair that it was sold at auction.

The property passed by descent through

only two other families before being

acquired by the present owners.

Marker is on Church Street, on the right when traveling north.
