B-52 Memorial Park

B-52 Memorial Park was dedicated to the 306th Bomb Wing and to the residents of Orlando. The dedication was made in recognition of the relationship between the Orlando community and the military.

Between 1957 and 1974, the 306th Bomb Wing was part of the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command and played a vital role in United States' Cold War defense.

Located at Orlando International Airport, originally McCoy Air Force Base, home base for the 306th Bomb Wing, the park was dedicated on April 17, 1985.

The park's main feature is its actual B-52 Stratofortress on permanent display. It also features a dedication plaque, viewing platform, and picnic tables.

Joint military and civilian service ran the facility from 1962 until 1974 when the Air Force departed. Orlando International Airport now brings many tourists to the Central Florida region.
