This site patented by Colonel Thomas Baker in 1867. Numerous individuals owned property until erection of Bank of Bakerfield in 1903. Replaced by present Bank of America buiding in 1930.
Marker is at the intersection of Chester Avenue and 20th Street, on the right when traveling west on Chester Avenue.
