Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Yale University

The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library houses Yale University's main collection of rare books and literary manuscripts. Library materials are stored in climate-controlled conditions. An impressive feature of the library is the glass tower of books inside the structure. The building itself is constructed of Vermont marble and granite, bronze and glass. The marble panes of the exterior are only one and one-quarter inches thick and filter light, shielding the library's materials from damage.

Among the library's notable items are original volumes of the Gutenberg Bible, Audubon's Birds of America, and the Voynich manuscript.
