Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia

By his plan and under his direction work upon the Century Dictionary and Cyclopedia was begun in 1882 refusing then the title of Editor he was authorized to engage Prof. William Dwight Whitney to fill that position and as Managing Editor until 1894 contributed largely to the actual definition of words therafter as Editor-in-chief he completed enlarged and twicw revised the work.

Died Feb. 24, 1913 in New Rochelle N.Y.
