Bland
The community center was first known as Crab Orchard. The place became the county seat of Bland County when it was formed in 1861 under the name of Seddon, which was later changed to that of the county. At Rocky Gap a skirmish was fought in Crook’s Raid against the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad, May, 1864.
Marker is at the intersection of South Scenic Highway (U.S. 52) and Seddon Street (County Route 1005), on the right when traveling west on South Scenic Highway.
