Occupied in 1969, Building 53 belonged to a group of buildings (52, 53, 50 and 51 respectively) that comprised Alpha and Gamma colleges. A covered walkway, connects the structure to Bldg. 52, Student Success Programs. These two distinct sets of buildings were designed by John E. Jarvis, Jr., and assigned to the architect of the Board of Regents.

Today, this two story office building houses the Haas Center, Marketing and Economics, Center for University Teaching, Learning and Assessment(CUTLA)and Women's Studies.
