Bldg. 54 UWF Field House

Known as the Field House when occupied in 1970, this building would house not only the faculty of health, leisure, and sports, but also the student affairs segment of recreation. Some spaces also served large gatherings for university functions such as graduations and concerts.

The design of architects Look and Morrison wrapped the faculty and recreation offices around the large-group activities; this giving them windows and ease of access. The main floor was three basketball courts wide and accommodated events such as a circus (including elephants) and the "Ice Capades" (ice skating).

The basketball courts boast five National Championships and fifty four Conference Championships. Today the Field House is a part of a larger complex of buildings (University Park) offering a variety of activity spaces.
