Bldg. 58, UWF Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Lab Science
With the growth of physics and other sciences at UWF the departments were in need of labs, lecture rooms, and office space.
The architectural firm of Look and Morrison asked the UWF professors if there were any existing facilities, elsewhere, in which it would pay to visit. They came up with Butler University, in Indianapolis since one professor had taught there. A site visitation was set up.
Occupied in 1973, the laboratory buildings were designed for change, the utilities were grouped together vertically and horizontally; the structural systems were designed for long-span support; permitting a variety of changes over the years.
The Departments of Biology and Chemistry and Clinical Lab Science continue to operate from Bldg. 58 today.
