Bldg. 70, UWF Vocational-Technical
The building program for the vocational-technical facility, occupied in 1976, called for a modest building. The architects, Ricks/Kendrick/Stokes/David, from Fort Walton Beach, Florida answered the charge with a very workable, inexpensive solution, fitting the building into the hillside, just north of central receiving/purchasing.
A notable feature was that they pulled the restrooms and vending area outside and uphill from the main facility, thus accommodating others on campus. The inhabitants of vo-tech were most appreciative of their basic, no-frills, concrete block building.
Later, Electrical and Computer Engineering was added to Bldg. 70, but today those departments have moved to UWF's newest and most technologically advanced facility, the School of Science and Engineering in Bldg. 4.
