Bldgs. 90-94, UWF Facilities Services

The Campus Support Services Complex, at the time of occupancy in 1996, housed the Facilities Planning and Management offices and the Physical Plant office in Bldg. 90. In a separate complex adjacent, were the maintenance shops, Bldgs. 91, 92, 93 and 94.

These two complexes were much needed, since for many years the services were scattered from the easternmost reaches at the foot of the bridge across the Escambia River, to the westernmost site of the central plant near Thompson's Bayou.

The architectural firm was Baskerville-Donovan, Inc., Architects & Engineers of Pensacola. The physical plant was placed at the north end and facilities planning and management at the south end; but the architects provided a nice utilization of common-use space at the main entrance convenient to the lobby, conference room, restrooms, vending, and luncheon patio.

The exterior treatment consisted of dark-grey concrete block and column coursing, producing an almost Romanesque appearance. On another campus they would have been just steel buildings with aluminum siding. Here, they take on permanence.

Today the Facilities Services buildings continue to serve the university campus with a mission to "Provide the highest degree of effective and efficient services possible...this is the sole purpose of our existence."
