Owned by Squire H. P. Bottom, it was a key position in Battle of Perryville, Oct. 8, 1862. At the beginning of battle held by USA troops. After a massed attack, Confederates took the house and held it. The battle over, Bottom identified and buried CSA dead.

Marker is on Hayes-May Road, on the right when traveling west.
