Brabant Plantation

Residence of Rt. Rev. Robert Smith, who was born in Norfolk, England, in 1732. He was consecrated in Philadelphia in 1795, as the first Episcopal Bishop of South Carolina. He died in 1801, and is buried in St. Philip's Churchyard, Charleston, S.C. On this plantation, on January 3, 1782, an engagement took place between Americans under Col. Richard Richardson, and British under Maj. Coffin.

Marker is on Cainhoy Road (State Road 8-98) (State Road 8-98), on the right when traveling south.
