Bright Leaf Tobacco
In 1850s on a farm in this area Abisha Slade perfected a process for curing yellow tobacco. His slave Stephen discovered process in 1839.
Marker is at the intersection of Blanch Road (North Carolina Route 1523) and Bertha Wilson Road (North Carolina Route 1511), on the left when traveling north on Blanch Road.
