Cabazon Dinosaurs
The Cabazon Dinosaurs are a roadside attraction in Cabazon, California, just off Interstate 10.
The two largest dinosaurs, Mr. Rex the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Ms. Dinny, the Apatosaurus, are both viewed by 12 million people each year as they travel I-10 past Cabazon.
Built over a span of eleven years beginning in the mid-1960s, Ms. Dinny is the largest dinosaur in the world at forty-five feet high. The attraction's gift shop is located inside her belly.
The designer, Claude Kenneth Belle, was first inspired to build the dinosaurs as a child, when he saw an elephant-shaped house named Lucy in New Jersey. Belle originally planned for Ms. Dinny to breathe fire to "scare the dickens out of" travelers along on I-10.
The Cabazon Dinosaurs attraction is currently a museum that argues against evolution and insists that humans and dinosaurs resided on Earth simultaneously.
