Established 1836; named in honor of Newton Cannon Governor of Tennessee, 1835–39; Member of Congress, 1814–17 and 1821–27; Served in Creek War and War of 1812.
Warren County
Established 1807; names in honor of General Joseph Warren of Massachusetts; Revolutionary War patriot; killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill, 1775.
Marker is on McMinnville Highway (U.S. 70S), on the right when traveling east.
