Cemetery at U.S. National Leprosarium

The cemetery on the campus of the Gillis W. Long Hansen's Disease Center has many graves dating to the opening of the Carville Center in 1894. Many of the names are aliases, due to the stigma attached to Hansen's Disease (Leprosy). The Cemetery is located near the National Hansen's Disease Museum & Archives, and the only National Leprosarium (leprosy hospital) in the United States.
