Chattanooga Daily Rebel

Established on this site, Aug. 2, 1862, by Franc M. Paul, it was published in three states, five towns and, for several months, in a boxcar traveling with Confederate armies. Later editors were Henry Watterson and Albert Roberts. Usually, it was the only news source for Confederate soldiers in the deep South. Its last issue was at Selma, Alabama, April 11, 1865.

Marker is on Market Street, on the right when traveling south.
