Chickasaw Tribe in Kentucky

The Chickasaw tribe claimed all of Kentucky and Tennessee west of the Tennessee River until a treaty in 1819. Therefore, on November 11, 1803, traders, trappers and Chickasaw natives took little notice of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Corps of discovery, as it trekked through these waters in route to the Pacific Ocean. Few ventures have surpassed their discovery. William Clark returned in 1827 to establish Paducah in honor of the Padouca Indians.
