City Hall Apartment Building

Built in 1914 by

Mayor John J. McNamara, George J. Winkleman

and James E. McNarmara

1st apartment building in Martinez. Built during refinery boom. Unique because it sits astride Alhambra Creek. Retail stores were on 1st floor, professional offices and apartments on 2nd floor. Named for City Hall next door 1913 – 1956. Faithfully restored by Attorneys Albert J. Turnbaugh and James L. Thelen in 1980.

Marker is at the intersection of Main Street and Estudillo Street, on the right when traveling east on Main Street.
