Clanton's (1st) Alabama Cavalry,

(Unattached.)

Army of the Mississippi.

This regiment occupied the right of the Confederate

line of battle April 6, 1862, and was engaged along the

Tennessee River until 4 p.m. when it came upon the high

ground, and was in position here at 5.30 p.m., when Union

prisoners were captured.

It then moved by the right flank, due east, to the

Mounds.

Marker is at the intersection of Hamburg-Savannah Road and Brown's Ferry Road, on the left when traveling south on Hamburg-Savannah Road.
