Columbus' First Professional Game
April 25, 1876
Columbus' first professional game was played on the Base Ball Grounds, located between the old Union Depot train station and High Street, on April 25, 1876. The Columbus Buckeyes defeated the famous Milfords 11-0. The Buckeyes and the International Association were created by Columbus native Jimmy Williams, “The Father of Minor League Baseball”.
Marker is at the intersection of Neil Avenue and Nationwide Boulevard, on the left when traveling north on Neil Avenue.
