Here June 29, 1863, Captain Charles Corbit led Companies C and D, First Delaware Cavalry, against General J. E. B. Stuart’s cavalry division. Though repelled by overwhelming force, the attack delayed Stuart, and was a factor in his failure to reach Gettysburg battlefield before July 2.

Marker is at the intersection of Main Street (Maryland Route 32) and Washington Road (Maryland Route 32), on the right when traveling south on Main Street.
