Court House Square

This Square, known as The Park, was given to Washington County in 1853 as a site for county buildings for the use and benefit of the county forever. Donors were William Wightman, Byron Kilbourn, James Kneeland, E.B. Wolcott, and their wives. This brick jail and court house were built in 1886 and 1889.

Marker is on South 5th Avenue south of Poplar Street, on the right when traveling south.
