Elizabeth Weid-St Michael's Cemetery

Elizabeth Weid (1811-1866), born Elizabeth Rucheimer in Bavaria, Germany, her husband Johann George Weid, a stone mason, and five of their six children arrived at New Orleans in May of 1853 aboard the ship Auguste.

The family left Bremen, Germany on March 11, 1853 and was at sea over sixty days. The boat trip to Pensacola took an additional five days.

Shortly after arriving in Pensacola, all of the males changed their last name to White.

Elizabeth's daughter, Eva Dorothea, married George Pfeiffer, another daughter, Margaret, married Henry Pfeiffer.

Elizabeth died on August 30, 1866. She is buried next to her daughter Margaret Pfeiffer.
