First Meeting House
1630 - 1930
Here stood Mendon's first meetinghouse, built in 1668 and destroyed by Indians in 1676. Joseph Emerson, the minister, was an ancestor of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Marker is at the intersection of Main Street and Hastings Street (Massachusetts Route 16), on the left when traveling north on Main Street.
