Fort Okfuskee

Built in 1735 by British from Carolina in futile attempt to gain trade of the Creek Indians from the French, located at Fort Toulouse, 40 miles south. Okfuskee was the largest town in Creek Confederacy.
Marker is on U.S. Highway 280, on the right when traveling north.
