Frances Hodgson Burnett
In a log cabin which stood here, Frances Eliza Hodgson, newly from England with her family, spent the winter of 1865. She helped support her family with music lessons, also opened a "Select Seminary for Young People." Here she met Dr. Swan Burnett, whom she married in 1873, also started the writing which later made her famous.
Marker is on Old Andrew Johnson Hwy, on the left when traveling south.
