Gilpin’s Falls Covered Bridge

Built circa 1860, the bridge is one of the few covered ones left in Maryland and the only one on public ground in Cecil County. The area to the East has been the site of several mills, the earliest Samuel Gilpin’s flour mill circa 1735. • Bridge restored 1959 through the joint effort of the State Roads Commission and the Historical Society of Cecil County, led by Fletcher P. Williams, Past President.

Marker is on North East Road (Route 272) 0.3 miles north of Old Bayview Road, on the right when traveling north.
