Founded 1732 as Bridge-Town, then in Queen Anne's and Dorchester Counties. Named Greensboro 1791. Sessions of Caroline County Court held here November, December, 1778; June 1779; march, 1780. Choptank Bridge, the first across the river built near here before 1732.

Marker is at the intersection of East Sunset Avenue (Maryland Route 314) and Greensboro Road (Maryland Route 313), on the right when traveling west on East Sunset Avenue.
