The Gregory Home- 720 N. Davis Street (tour stop 2)

2. Henry Moore cruised up to this location at 720 North Davis, which in January 1931 was the site of the Gregory family home. Henry drove a roadster coupe, basically a 1930s sports car. Not the kind of car you would expect a married man to drive, but then Henry wasn’t acting like a married man. He just left a wife and child back home on East Jackson Street.

Henry rang the doorbell and waited for an answer. Appearing at the door within seconds was pretty Gretchen Gregory, who created Henry with a “Hi, Ed. I’m not quite ready. Wanna come in?” Odd. Not odd that Gretchen wasn’t ready. What girl is? Odd that she called him “Ed,” when his first name was Henry and middle name was Hicks. Was it a nickname?
