This Brigade, the center of Sheridan's Division, its right on the Moore Road (Montgomery Avenue). Advanced in the general assault in two lines, with heavy skirmish lines, Col. Walworth, 42d Illinois, commanding the right wing, Col. Opdycke, 125th Ohio, the left. After carrying the rifle-pits at the base of the ridge, held by strong skirmish lines, part of the line advancing on the slope was retired to the foot. It was soon ordered forward, the crest was carried along the Brigade front. Six guns captured and pursuit at once began.
Marker is on South Crest Road south of East Main Street, on the left when traveling south.
