Helen Moreno
Helen E. Moreno 1845-1886
Little information about Helen E. Moreno exists apart from the inscription on her grave marker. She was born to A.C. Blount and Julia E. Washington on October 1st, 1845. She moved from New Berne, North Carolina to Pensacola, where she married Stephen A. Moreno, a bookkeeper, in February 1871.
She had at least two daughters, both named Helen. Helen May died at age 10 on February 18th, 1882. Four years later, both mother and two-day-old daughter Helen died in December 1886 and were buried together, next to Helen May's grave. Although the cause of their deaths is unrecorded, the most likely explanation is complications related to the birth.
