This fire company originated
in 1849, when it was known as
Hope Hose Company.
It was not until 1872 when
by an act of Legislature,
the original name was changed
to its present
Hope Steam Fire Engine
Company No. 1
This building erected 1967
Marker is at the intersection of High Street and West Pearl Street, on the left when traveling north on High Street.
