In Memory of Our Fallen Heroes

Revolutionary War Heritage Trail

Although two attempts to recover the bodies of the fallen at Minisink Ford are recorded as having taken place in the weeks following the battle, it was not until 1822, forty-five years after the event, that the remains still lying here were gathered up and prepared for burial. They were interred beneath a small obelisk in Goshen, N.Y. The Minisink Battle Monument located here was erected on the site of the militia’s “last stand” and dedicated in 1879, the centennial of the battle.

Marker can be reached from Minisink Battle Ground Road, on the left when traveling east.
