Jail - 1848
This building with the West addition served as the Gaston County Jail until 1911 when the County seat was moved to Gastonia. The Sheriff and his family had living quarters on the first floor. The second floor still contains the main cell block.
Marker is on E Trade Street (North Carolina Route 275).
