Jamestown Island

The woodland and marsh beyond the water is Jamestown Island, a pear-shape area of some 1,500 acres, being about 2½ miles in length. It is separated from the mainland by Back Creek. In more recent times the wide mouth of this creek, which you see here, has been called the Thorofare.

Marker can be reached from Colonial National Historic Parkway 2.7 miles east of Jamestown Road (Virginia Route 31).
