To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the United States Army on 14 June 1975 and the 150th anniversary of Fort Hamilton on 11 June 1975, this plaque is dedicated. We ask our successors to hold an appropriate observance in June 2025 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Fort Hamilton and 250th anniversary of the United States Army.

* * * *In Sept. 1974, the USA Chaplain Center and School moved from Fort Hamilton to Fort Wadsworth. Army Air Defense units were inactivated around New York City and Forts Tilden and Hancock were in the process of being turned over to Dept. of the Interior for inclusion in the Gateway National Recreation Area. The Fort Hamilton Command reported to USA Forces Command located at Fort McPherson, Georgia. General Fred C. Weyand was Chief of Staff of the United States Army.
