Land Office Building

In 1838 the honorable Mr. A.P. Edgerton, agent for the Hicks Land Company of New York, erected this building as his headquarters from which he sold land to the first settlers of this community. It became the property of the building and loan company, who, in 1989, deeded it to the Johnson Memorial Library. The building was then moved to this library site.

A memorial gift from William and Lyndall Coulter enabled the library directors to renovate this historic property for appropriate use.

Marker is on West High Street (Ohio Route 18) west of Main Street, on the right when traveling west.
