Lawrence D. Bell

Born in Mentone, Lawrence D. Bell (1894-1956) became one of America's foremost aviation pioneers. He founded Bell Aircraft Corporation in Buffalo, New York, 1935. Advanced aircraft manufactured included Bell helicopters, America's first jet, and Bell X-1, first plane to fly faster than speed of sound.

Marker is at the intersection of State Road 25 and Oak Street, on the left when traveling west on State Road 25.
