Lowell Damon House

In 1844, Oliver Damon, wheelwright and cabinet-maker, migrated from New Hampshire to what is now Wauwatosa. He and his son-in-law, Jonathon Warren, built this house using oak and black walnut from land he purchased in 1841. In 1846 Damon’s son, Lowell, came to Wisconsin and added the front portion of the house. The Rogers family gave the house to the Milwaukee County Historical Society in 1941 as a museum and period house.

Marker is at the intersection of Wauwatosa Avenue (Wisconsin Route 181) and Rogers Avenue, on the right when traveling south on Wauwatosa Avenue.
