Mary McLeod Bethune House

This simple two-story frame vernacular structure was the home of Mary McLeod Bethune from the time of its construction in the 1920s until Dr. Bethune's death in 1955. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974, the house museum contains original furnishings and archives for the Mary Mcleod Bethune papers. Visitors may tour the Mary McLeod Bethune Home and grave site, and the guest bedroom in which her friend, first lady Eleanor Roosevelt, stayed during a visit.
