Memorial Monument
Constructed in 1888, one year after the commissioning of the park, this monument honors the three different camps in Redding during the winter of 1778 – 79. This monument is the very first structure erected at the park.
The obelisk is built of native granite and is forty-two feet high with a two foot granite ball on top.
Marker can be reached from the intersection of Putnam Park Road (Connecticut Route 58) and Connecticut Route 107, on the right when traveling south.
